Thursday Keynote - Catlin Tucker
Common Core: Transforming Teaching & Learning

Many teachers across the nation are groaning at the mention of transitioning to a new set of standards. Most don’t realize the new standards emphasize communication, higher-order thinking, technology integration and literacy, real world application and creative problem solving.

Join author and teacher Catlin Tucker as she shares her enthusiasm for the Common Core.

The shift from breadth to depth is refreshing. Teachers have an opportunity to make learning more relevant and engaging. Technology can empower teachers, allowing them to experiment with PBL, flipped and blended models. When used to complement and enhance traditional instruction, technology makes it possible to cultivate a variety of skills with a single assignment.

Catlin will share photos and student work to demonstrate practical ideas for addressing the Common Core using technology. See how technology can open the door to creatively addressing the standards without adding to your workload. Walk away feeling energized about this shift and eager to explore how you can use technology to transition to the Common Core.
